NISSA is a six-year old, innovation-driven SME with strong international cooperation and vision to become East European leader in developing advanced IT solutions for real-time processing to be used in various industries and businesses. The main objective is to develop own technological building blocks through an efficient implementation of the cutting-edge research and their usage for resolving very challenging real-world problems in different domains. Building blocks enable flexibility in providing heterogeneous solutions, ensure the scalability and support continual improvement of our technologies.
Two main technologies NISSA’s R&D is based on are semantic technologies and complex event processing (CEP). Current innovation focus is on advanced CEP, whereas several innovative services have been designed for the Big Data Processing. The most important is querying service for combing real-time and historical queries that supports expressive but efficient semantic queries on real-time data streams. Another important technology is the framework for personal sensing that enables complex, real-time integration of different types of sensor data and global contextual information, with the goal to develop mobile personal information systems.
Projects relevant for Big data:
- IMAGINE - Innovative End-to-end Management of Dynamic Manufacturing Networks, http://www.imagine-futurefactory.eu
- FITMAN - Future Internet Technologies for MANufacturing, http://www.fitman-fi.eu/
- Fed4Fire - Federation for Fire, http://www.fed4fire.eu
- ProaSENSE - The Proactive Sensing Enterprise, http://www.proasense.eu/

Dr. Nenad Stojanović (Male) is the head of the research at NISSA. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from KIT, Germany. From 2006 to 2014 he was a team leader, senior researcher and project manager at FZI Research Center for Information Technology at KIT, with the main responsibility to coordinate, manage and acquire European and national projects. His domains of interests are innovative real-time systems in based on advance technologies like Complex Event Processing, Knowledge Engineering and Ontologies. He has had the opportunity to approach these topics in over 15 European projects. He has also coordinated three FP7 projects. He has acted as external reviewer in programs funded by donors such as the European Commission. He has been involved in many industry projects like for Union Investment, SSB - Stuttgart Public Transportation Company, EnBW (energy), SIEMENS (automation), Bayer (pharma).
